Our Promise

“We will use our expertise to responsibly source, high quality fish and seafood, while investing in the best people and technologies. Working openly with our partners to always focus on delivering a great product at an accessible price, we enable everyone to make the healthy choice without compromising standards or the environment”

Our History

Back in the 80s our late founder Walter Simpson sold filleted fish to the wholesale market from a telephone box (although let us point out, he didn’t fillet the fish in the telephone box!).

Today, we are a proud second generation independent business supplying some of the largest supermarkets in the UK and Europe.

Our very own trademarked brand, promoting healthy lifestyle choices and encouraging people to cook prepared fish in marinades, sauces and flavoured butters, with the ease and convenience of an ovenproof or microwaveable tray.

UK processor invests to grow with ‘partner’ Lidl, eyes £100m turnover
Skin-packaged seafood specialist Copernus is investing in its plant and targeting sales of £100 million as it rides the growth wave of its primary customer Lidl GB.

Tackling Global Pollution

Every year more than 12 million tonnes of plastic waste enters the ocean. Copernus is making a stand against ocean plastic pollution. We are the first fish processor in the UK to make a pledge to use ocean bound recycled materials in most of our packaging. This will initially prevent more than 60 metric tonnes of plastic from being introduced to the sea per year, which is the equivalent of 2.5m plastic water bottles.
